Take a look at the new blog from Joe Durepos.
Oh great, another new blog.
I know, I know - "Like I have time for another thing to keep up with" - right?
Why should I care? Why should I bother? Who the hell are you? What the hell is Half Blind Faith?
Great questions, so let’s start by my telling you who I am, then we’ll move onto why you might care.
If you’re reading this, you’ve probably got some idea who I am. If not, I’m an avid reader, book lover, and long-time book professional. It’s this last thing that’s probably brought you here, but honestly, it should be the former two that actually mean something.
By my unofficial last count, I’ve been a part of bringing over five hundred books to market, including books published by all the largest publishers, including Simon & Schuster, Penguin Random House, HarperCollins, and Hachette . But also, some of the best small to mid-size publishers in the country. My roles in bringing these books to market have been as a developmental editor, acquisitions editor, and literary agent.
The books have been New York Times Best Sellers, Chicago Tribune Books Best Sellers, Publishers Weekly Best Sellers, Amazon Best Sellers, USA Today Best Sellers, and a few other lists I can’t remember. The books have also won many awards and while I remain thrilled for my authors, I would feel awkward listing the awards—I didn’t write the books.
Collectively, the books have sold in the tens of millions of copies, all over the world, in many languages and territories. This work I’ve been doing, I’ve been doing for over three decades.
Hopefully, this may answer why you might care, why you should bother reading another damn blog, and who the hell I am.
More on Half Blind Faith in my next post.
Thanks.
Joe
